Odoralamo, an ancient Community of Ijebu land has begun its journey to Kingship system of leadership as Dr. Adenuga Adelaja Adeleke, a potential candidate for the throne urged the kingmakers to be fair and free in their selection.

In his statement while Speaking with Journalist recently, Dr. Adenuga Adelaja Adeleke said the kingmakers should eschew that proper procedure in line with an established traditions should be applied to enable a Bonafide son of the Odoralamo emerged as King.

Dr. Adenuga Adeleke said any form of irregularities, biasness and unjust will crop down the peace and unity the community inherited from their founding father, the founder of Odoralamo, he said selecting an individual with most qualified and acceptable criterial for the throne will boost development of the area for the betterment of people of the community, he said.

Dr. Adenuga Adelaja Adeleke said Odoralamo is an Ijebu Land Area with vast historical proof of identity, built on the foundation of love, peace and unity, and developing with characteristic that encompassed accommodating of people, love of friends, acceptance of visitors and that cannot be undermined despite its modern-day state.

Dr. Adenuga Adelaja Adeleke who in line with the spirit of his forefather, and determination to stand for the true nature of Odoralamo recently disagreed with a kangaroo and a planned meeting organized by Oloritun, Itun Taiwo Osiyemi, because the meeting was a calculative attempt aimed at drag the age long understanding that exist among the people of the Areas into disrepute.

He said calling a meeting with intention to outturn the people wish, plotting sentimental plan against the community expectation by arranging nomination of an individual for the highly extol stool of Odoralamo’s King is evil and such act is alien to the people of Odoralamo, because the community is of four quarters has and has been operating with oneness.

Adelaja Adeleke said Odoralamo’s four quarters are with tradition of love, equality and fairness in their dealing, he further said the people of the Area are understanding people that have respect for one voice, so to organize a meeting by Itun Taiwo Osiyemi who was giving the seat of Oloritun by chance, now operating without the genuine interest for smooth process of selecting a king is evil and should be rejected.

He said he has to frown at that meeting and demanded for large gathering of the people to select their choice of king.

Dr. Adenuga, who also a potential candidate for the King stool said gathering the larger community members for the kingship deliberation will give the people sense of sincerity and fairness, thereby satisfy the general interest of the community as they glamouring for king in Substitute to present Olori Ilu Leader leadership identity.

He stated immediately after the said meeting which he was in attendance that any attempt that contradict people acceptance will not scale through, because the people will vehemently reject unwanted decision, therefor the meeting has to be conducted with the larger community member in attendance for proper decision.

Dr. Adenuga Adelaja Adeleke who backed the history of Odoralamo as Compiled by Joseph Adesina Adebambo that pointed that elders say there is no river without a source and no matter how long a rope is, it has a start point. In like manner, every town or settlement have its own origin and history which means that Odoralamo is not exceptional 
According to his history Odoralamo is a village in ljebu North LGA of Ogun State. A village situated on the hill that
cannot be hidden (llu ti a tedo sori oke ti ko gbodo farasin). The village was founded around 1705AD by a princess from Moro ldewon Quarters in ljebu Ode by the name Princess
Adenihun and shares common boundaries with Aparaki (on the North), Odokalaba (on the South), lpari-Oke (on the East) and Imope (on the west) sitting on vast land
The founder of Odoralamo was a daughter of a king from Moro ldewon quarters in ljebu Ode
As per the custom at that time, she had the option as a matured young woman to establish
her own settlemnent, an option she exploited. To embark on the adventure, her father (the king) gave her slaves and some palace aids, and a beaded crown as her symbol of authority to enable her reign as a king wherever she eventually settled.
When leaving the palace, one of her younger cousins who usually visited her from Ita Ajarna ljebu Ode by name Osilapunren decided to move with her. After travelling for several days, they got to an area where there were lots of palm trees, Osilapunren told Adenihun he preferred to settle in that area, he felt the palm fronds in abundance there could be useful for building huts for dwelling whereas Adenihun felt that location was not the destination.
Osilapunren opted to settle in the place where there were abundant palm trees and the place earned the name lmope, while Adenihun continued her search fora suitable destination. As they departing Adenihun told Osilapunren that since he has opted to stay back from continuing with
her, it has become imperative for him to know that she cannot continue to cater for him, hence “the saying konikun bo ikun, kelenu bo enu”.
Princess Adenihun and her entourage moved further till they got to an area where there were less thick bushes, a clear environment, so they decided to settle there. And
since the spot is the settlement of the child of a king, it must be referred to as an odo. That was how the village got her name naturally as an odo that is established on arala to mo and the village got named Odoralamo The first spot of settlement was Aleke Quarters and memorial block was erected where agogo owo ti oba was founded.
Odoralamo has very close association with imope and Aparaki because it shares a comm history with them.
These are few leads to the founding Odoralamo.

Former Governor of Ogun and Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District ,Otunba Gbenga Daniel says he has sponsored eleven (11) bills that are currently at different status at the National Assembly.

Senator Daniel   disclosed  this while giving account of his stewardship in the last one year at Dialogue with Journalists  held on Tuesday at  Nuj Secretariat,Oke- ilewo, Abeokuta.

Among the bills he listed were the South West Development Commission Bill, Federal College of Aviation Technology, Ilara Remo, Terminal illness Trust Bill, Media Practitioners Registration Council, Hospices Establishment Bill, Constitution of the Federal  Of Nigeria Birth right Bill.

He described the South West Development Commission bill which is at the second reading as one if  passed and assented by the President  would further boost the economy of the south west to an enviable heights.

Otunba Daniel who informed that he was the  Chairman of Committee on Navy, Vice chairman of Appropriation Committee and member of other fifteen committees of the Senate, implored youths especially in the South West to enlist  into the military services.

He added  he specifically reeled out the oommittes so as to enable his constituents and people of Ogun State to utilize  the network to their advantages.

He also stated that over 3000 people have benefitted from various empowerment schemes and medical initiatives  programmes which included free eyes treatment, provision of glasses, Training and provision of Tractors to farmers, grants and loans to Traders, Market men and women and provision of Sewing machines and working tools to artisans .

In order to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship in the country, the Ogun State Government on Friday began the distribution of rice palliatives to the residents of the state.

The distribution started with Muslim faithful who are currently observing this year’s Ramadan fast with thousands of bags of rice allocated to mosques, inluding Kobiti Central Mosque, Secretariat Central Mosque and

Sa’adatul Abadiyya Mosque, Leme, all in Abeokuta.

The distribution at the secretariat mosque, became an atmosphere of joy and excitement for Muslims who came to observe the Jumat prayer. 

Addressing the congregation on behalf of Governor Abiodun, after the Jumat, the Deputy Governor, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, thanked Muslims for their support in prayers since 2019 till date, urging them not to relent but continue to support the Abiodun-led government for a successful 2nd term tenure. 

“The state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun do not take your prayers and support for granted. Your prayers were what have been keeping this administration going. So I want to appeal to you to accept this gift wholeheartedly,” she said.

The deputy governor urged the congregants to shun all immoral act that can hinder their prayers in this month of Ramadan. 

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Atoke Adebisi Ogunseun, appreciated Governor Abiodun for the gesture, praying that Almighty Allah will continue to guide him and grant him the required wisdom to take the state to a greater height.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiu Hamzat, who represented Governor Abiodun, explained that the gesture was part of government’s commitment to the welfare of the citizenry, even as he promised more distribution of palliatives to the people. 

He enjoined them to use the Ramadan period to pray fervently for the peace, tranquility and progress of the country. 

Speaking On behalf of other beneficiaries, Mr. Musbau Abiola and Mrs. Mulikat Folarin expressed gratitude to the state government for the palliative, pledging their continuous support to the government. 

At the Sa’adatul Abadiyya Organisation of Nigeria National Mosque, Leme, the Senior Consultant to Governor Abiodun on Media, Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye, said the gesture was in line with the state government’s agenda to help cushion the high cost of food in the country.

Oladunjoye also added that the state government is poised to continue to look after the welfare of the people of the state.

In his message, the Chief Imam of Sa’adatul Abadiyya Organisation of Nigeria National Mosque, Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Ismail, commended Governor Abiodun for looking after the welfare of his people by distributing food stuff palliative to Muslim faithful in the Mosque.

He added that the gesture would go a long way in assisting many homes.

Responding, a beneficiary, Akeem Durowoju expressed happiness at the kind gesture extended to him by the governor.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has described the victory of the Super Eagles over their South African counterparts as well deserved.

Prince Abiodun, in a congratulatory message to the national football team and the entire country, praised the players for their outstanding performance against the South Africans.

The match had ended one apiece after extra time, but the Super Eagles prevailed 4-2 on penalties.

Governor Abiodun expressed delight and pride in the team’s remarkable victory. He commended the players, coaching staff, and the entire Nigerian football fraternity for their dedication and hard work.

“The Super Eagles have once again proven their mettle on the international stage, showcasing their exceptional skills and determination. I am incredibly proud of their achievement in securing a well-deserved spot in the African Cup of Nations finals.

“This victory is a testament to the strength and unity of our beloved country, Nigeria. The Super Eagles have shown the world what it means to be a team, fighting together to achieve a common goal,” the governor said.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has released another N1 billion gratuity in fulfilment of his promise to cater to the welfare of pensioners.

The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of State Pensions, Mr. Adesoji Adewuyi made this known in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Monday.

Adewuyi explaining that the money was released to cater for the state pensions which would be in two batches, with the first batch for pensioners in October 2014 list, as well as the outstanding of Basic, Rent and Transport (BRT) allowance for the month of March, 2013, while pensioners with urgent medical needs or hospital bills would be considered from the gratuity.

The permanent secretary further noted that the second batch of the gratuity would be paid to pensioners who were listed for November 2014, adding that the Basic, Rent and Transport (BRT) allowances for the remaining pensioners in March and April 2013, would equally be taken care of.

He appreciated Governor Abiodun for his commitment towards the plight of the senior citizens, adding that the gesture would go a long way in bringing a positive impact to the lives of the pensioners and enjoined those who were still awaiting payment to be patient with the present administration, as it would soon be their turn.

The state government has, in the last six months, released about N1.7 billion for the senior citizens.

This covers full payment from September 2014 to November 2014; BRT balance covering January 2013 to May 2013; gratuity of retired judges; pensioners with health challenges and payment of gratuity of some permanent secretaries.

Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke on the development, thanked God for sparing their lives to reap the fruits of their labour.

They appreciated the governor for keeping to his promises and prayed that God would continue to guide and protect him in steering the ship of the state

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has described the death of renowned African culture ambassador, Olujimi Solanke as a colossal loss to the theatre community and Ogun State.

The governor also condoled with the family of the veteran poet dramatist and the people of Ipara-Remo in Remo North Local Government Area of the State.

Mostly remembered by many for his television programme ‘Story land’, on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Solanke reportedly died on Monday morning after a brief illness. He was aged 82. He is survived by his wife, Toyin, children and grandchildren.

In a statement, Abiodun said the late Solanke had “consistently put the name of the state in the limelight for very good reasons, especially in the arts right from his days at the University of Ibadan School of Drama.”

The governor urged relatives and other loved ones of the late poet to celebrate his life and ensure that the many legacies he left behind are preserved even for generations yet unborn.

“Renowned for his tireless dedication to the arts, Baba Agba as he was widely known by his numerous fans across the country was a great ambassador of our dear state. He promoted the culture and tradition of the Yoruba race on the global stage with his drama, music, poetry and other works of art.

“In 1961, he emerged as one of the pioneer members of the Orisun Theatre Group, founded by Professor Wole Soyinka. He went on to put in several decades of diverse exposures and experiences into the global entertainment industry across several broadcast stations, countries and festivals, impacting on the sector greatly.

“Many of his admirers still recall with nostalgia, his epic performances at the Western Nigeria Television, WNTV, Ibadan in the 1960s, his unforgettable stagecraft at the World Festival of Negro Arts in Senegal and the amazing skills he exhibited at the Pan-African Cultural Festival in Algeria, all in the 1970s.

“Also to his credit are brilliant performances in epics like Death and the King’s Horseman, Kurunmi, Kongi’s Harvest, The Divorce and Ovaramwen Nogbaisi. These performances and his numerous talents turned him into a global icon of the arts.

“He was at different times described by the Oxford Times and the New York Times as a ‘Skilled Nigerian Actor’ and an ‘Excellent Troupe’ respectively, owing to his performance of Wole Soyinka’s Kongi’s Harvest, during a tour of Europe.

“He sang with Highlife music Legends like Roy Chicago, Eddy Okonta and Chris Ajilo. He also worked with many global musicians, including Chubby Checker of Twist fame and Millicent Small of Rock Steady. He was with Ralph MacDonald, the lead voice in the chartbuster, Ona La, The Path,” the statement said.

Recalling Solanke’s sonorous voice, impressive gesticulations, near perfect mimicry and electrifying dances while reeling out folklores with ease, the statement added that the late poet will be greatly missed by all and sundry.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has been commended for his giant strides in road construction and infrastructural development in the last four and a half years.

Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, gave the commendation on Monday when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Abiodun at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Governor Sule who described infrastructure as catalyst for investments, expressed delight with the good road network that crisscross the State.

He said: “So many projects like the Agro-Cargo Airport are going on in the State. I know about the various projects that President Muhammadu Buhari came to commission.

“The last time I came here was when Nestle was beginning to build their factory and also the Brewery was also building their site. Today, I have not only seen those industries, I have seen the dualisation of the Sagamu-Abeokuta road. We zoomed here in 20 minutes.

“That is what a private thinking person will do in other to attract investments as investments will not come without somebody doing something.”

Engr. Sule applauded Governor Abiodun for siting most of the projects at the grassroots, noting that it would help in their socio-economic endeavours.

The Nasarawa State helmsman added: “I am even more happy that most of these projects are done at the grassroots as people will be able to benefit especially in the area of agriculture, health and education.”

In the area of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Governor Sule said his state has a lot to learn from Ogun, as there are States that are not generating enough revenue to run their affairs.

“We have so much to learn from Ogun State. Ogun is to Lagos what Nasarawa is to Abuja. In the area of revenue, Ogun State is doing very well and there are States that do not generate the kind of revenue Ogun is generating. It was not like this before. Agbara Industrial Zone was not like the way it is now same with Sagamu,” he added.

While congratulating Prince Abiodun for his victory at the Supreme Court, Engr. Sule said he was also in the State to commiserate with the family of the late former Minister of Finance, Dr. Onaolapo Soleye, who died last year at the age of 90.

Work is yet to begin on the reconstruction of the Abeokuta-Ota-Lagos Expressway because the Ogun State Government is still waiting for final approval of the concessioning of the road from the Federal Government.

It will be recalled that the Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced in October last year, during a briefing after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Aso Villa, that the Federal Government had finally concessioned the all important road to the Ogun State Government to reconstruct after several efforts made to that effect by the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration.

The reconstruction was to be carried out under the Highway Development and Management Initiative (HDMI), with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) and the Federal Ministry of Finance to be involved in the process.

Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Media, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, speaking on the latest development on Monday, said that although there is a presidential approval for the concessioning, there is no EXTRACT from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approving the concessioning.

According to Akinmade, the procedure for the concessioning is not complete without FEC’s EXTRACT paper.

He noted that after deliberation and approval, the FEC will issue an extract from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), transferring the road to the Ogun State Government.

The special adviser said that the Ogun State Government is waiting anxiously for the FEC’s nod to proceed with the project.

He added that the FEC Extract is needed to raise funds for the project and also discuss with investors.

Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ade Akinsanya had earlier said the state administration had been providing palliatives to make the roughly 70km road manageable for motorists.

“Ogun State has been rehabilitating the road since 2019. We keep doing palliative works because the governor is always concerned about the suffering being experienced by the people. He remains concerned about the deplorable state of the road until he got what he wanted from the federal government.

“With the transfer done now, we are happy and ready to immediately take over the project and turn around the fortunes of the road. It’s what we’ve been looking for, praying for since we came on board. We will take over immediately, subject to paperwork between us and the federal ministry,” he had said.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has urged the newly installed Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, to use his title to foster unity, peace, economic development and educational advancement in  Ijebuland and the entire state. 


Governor Abiodun who stated this in his address at the conferment of the title on Dr Folorunsho Kuku said his accomplishment in the medical field and his philanthropic endeavours are clear indications of the positive impact he can bring to ijebuland .


Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Governor added that, the Ogbeni Oja title is a call to service and championing the aspirations of the people of Ijebu, explaining that its not a ceremonial title but a position that requires more responsibilities as the highest title that can conferred on any individual of Ijebu extraction, informing that the Ogbeni oja is the chairman of kingmakers and all matters concerning the palace of the Awujale rest on his shoulders.

While describing the new Ogbeni Oja as a man of distinction and one who has recorded many remarkable achievements, he expressed confidence that his tenure would bring about prosperity and peace to the wellbeing of the people of Ijebuland, affirming that his commitment to excellence coupled with a profound sense of responsibility has positioned him as a beacon for others to follow. 

The State helmsman said ‘as we witness the investiture of Sonny Kuku, let us reflect on the enduring values that has sustained this communities through generations, unity, resilience and commitment to the common goal has been the cornerstone of Ijebuland success . 

According to him, ‘this reiterates, my administration’s commitment to working hand in hand with traditional institutions in creating a conducive environment aimed at fostering prosperity.

Our collective success hinges on the harmonious partnership between the government, its traditional institutions and the people of the state. By fostering an environment of collaboration and progress, together, we can be build a future where the generations to come will see this day as a turning point in our history’ 

Appreciating Awujale for his leadership wisdom and commitment to preserving the rich cultural heritage that defines Ijebuland,  Governor Abiodun stressed the need to recognise the importance of collective actions, calling on all indigenes of Ijebuland as well as the state at large to support the new ogbeni oja who succeeded Adeola Odutola who was the ogbeni oja for almost 40 years. 

The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, HRM Oba Dr Sikiru Adetona, in his remarks, thanked God for His mercies upon his life, appreciating his wives for taking care of him and all Ijebus for their cooperation in the last 64 years of his reign on the throne, while specially appreciating Prince Dapo Abiodun for his unflinching support financially, morally and in particular his  developmental strides in the state.

According to Awujale ‘i want to specially commend Governor Abiodun for the success recorded on the policy of burying kings according to their religious beliefs in the state, this agitation has been since the time of former Governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun’s administrations but it was not successful”, he therefore called on governors in western region to emulate Gov Abiodun by implementing such policies in their various states

While calling on  Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for a better Nigeria, he urged the people of Ogun State to continue to support Governor Abioduns ISEYA mantra.
